Roads I have Ridden – John Lascelles

In his stunning black and white landscape shots, John Lascelles combines his love of large format photography and cycling.

During my lunchbreak I’ll often wander into the Wollongong City Gallery to see what exhibitions are on. I’ve found quite a few stories for ABC Open this way, such as Mai’s Metamorphic Mongrels.

Last week in the gallery I spied in the annex room a stunning series of black and white photographs. Of roads within bushy landscapes. I could recognise most of the roads as they are from my region, the Southern Highlands of NSW. I’ve driven on all of them many times, including the gravel mountain track I live on, the spectacular Wombeyan Caves Road.
