Book: Places I’ve Been – A Journey Through Photography by Richard White

placesivebeen

We are pleased to announce the release of Richard’s first book, Places I’ve Been, in the next week or two. He has been working on two books most of this year, this one and a book on the High Country, which incidentally we hope to bring you next year around May. A long time coming you might say.

The Places I’ve Been book will be a special limited edition release. Beautifully printed hard cover book and supplied in a matching hand made slip case.

Only 150 copies of the limited edition will be printed.

The book measures 300mm square and contains 120 pages.

The book is also accompanied by a limited edition print. There will be a choice between 5 different photographs each limited to 30 copies. A further 20 Artist Proof copies will be printed and numbered for exclusive use by the photographer.

The Limited Edition book will be released in batches of 50 copies.

The first batch to be released for Christmas delivery.

The choice of prints, displayed in this brochure, are approximately 8 x 10 in size, silver gelatin fibre base prints hand printed by Richard and mounted and over matted on archival museum board ready for framing. Each book and print will be signed and numbered and once the print number is reached the negative will be retired. No further prints will be offered for sale in any size.

Contained within the book are 50 black and white images Richard has taken from his travels over the years. Images from Australia, NZ, England, Scotland, Canada, the US and more. Each photograph is accompanied by text describing how & why the image was made, and interesting stories relating to the pictures themselves.

As film maker Don Parham, who wrote the foreword for the book said recently, “Here is a great opportunity to get inside the head of the man I like to call ‘Australia’s Ansel Adams’. Richard’s text with each of the 50 images is insightful, often humourous and outlines why and how he made the photograph. A must read for any photographer”.

The book will be sold via Richard’s newsletter and web site only. This could make the perfect Christmas present for anyone with a passion for photography, either professional or amateur.
