Thumbnail_320

Until 16 March 2014 at Glencore Queensland Artists’ Gallery, Queensland Art Gallery. Brisbane

A renowned photographer and teacher, Richard Stringer has enjoyed a long and distinguished career. This exhibition acknowledges his artistic achievements and provides the opportunity to consider a significant body of work developed over 40 years.

‘Pleasure of Place’ explores the varied subjects that have inspired Stringer throughout his photographic practice, including industrial archaeology, the urban environment and landscapes. It examines the important connection Stringer has with architecture — coming to photography through his training and practice as an architect — and his lifelong work documenting Queensland’s built environment, both modern and historic, in Brisbane and throughout the state.
