Exhibition: Uncommon Ground (Traversing Edges and Corners)

Tin types and duratrans by Danica Chappell
Dandenong Civic Centre
until 8 February

Coloured tin types and duratrans across seven lightboxes in Dandenong’s Civic Center Garnar Lane precinct, relinquish a predetermined engagement to the photograph through an investigation of space and materials.
Danica Chappell is a visual artist based in Melbourne who has a curiosity for spatial-temporal abstraction. Danica works with the malleability of analogue photography to investigate abstract and concrete concepts. Entangled in an activity of process Danica re-presents materials, form and colour derived from ‘darkroom haptic’ actions. Crafted in the blind space of the colour darkroom, non-figurative constructions reveal the permutations of a tactile engagement between process, the body and materials.
